How would you like the key to your apartment to be your automobile? To be more precise, how would you like to take your car all the way to your apartment, no matter which floor?

The iconic Porsche Design Tower-Miami, an ultra-luxury apartment building boasting 132 residential units, features something not many can claim – in-unit “sky” garages for owners to keep their vehicles next to their unit. This was made possible with a unique system called the Dezervator, a one-of-a-kind car elevator; essentially it transports you and your car to your unit.

As a smart technology company for the luxury market, Premium Digital Control & Automation was impressed by the Deservator, a brainchild of Gil Dezer, the tower’s developer, who made sure he patented his unique elevator lift system that would be in line with how Premium Digital Control also custom-builds fully automated systems for its clients.

Architect Charles Sieger likes to describe the Deservator as if a bride is being lifted up a threshold, only it’s a car. That’s a romantic way of putting it. A more sporty way of putting it, the great footballer and 2022 World Cup winner Lionel Messi has reportedly bought a unit here.

Car elevator like no other

The Deservator is a great conversation piece indeed but it barely scratches the surface of this tower’s many outstanding features, amenities and technology systems. The tower came to fruition thanks to the luxury brand partnership and eventual master licensing agreement forged between two giants in the industry – Dezer Development in real estate and the Germany-based Porsche Design Group known for its classy Porsche automobiles.

As the architect, Charles Sieger Suarez Architects took on the challenge from both Mr. Dezer and the Porsche Design Group’s Roland Heiler who said Porsche was looking for a modern and timeless aesthetic full of high-quality, functionality and high-level aesthetics – and delivered.

“In this building, we captured all the elements and realized them in a very exciting way,” says Heiler.

The height of luxury living

Dezer Development with Sieger came up with an all-glass cylindrical design that makes every room look wider every time you enter one because of its curved angles. “You get 90 feet of glass (window) exposure. “(In this tower), you don’t realize you’re even in a room. You just see out. You see the ocean view and it makes you feel like you’re floating on air,” he said.

Porsche Design Tower is the height and epitome of luxury living, boasting European-designed finishes and cabinetry, upscale elements in the kitchens and bathrooms, including Poggenpohl kitchens, Dornbracht fixtures and Miere appliances and Toto automatic or smart toilets featuring bidet functions within the master bathrooms.

The residences also feature outdoor living with balconies from 800 to 1,600 square feet or 20 percent of a residence, with most of them having a 10 x 15 plunge pool and glass door panels as well – for complete privacy and breathtaking ocean views.

Some of the most outstanding luxurious amenities in the tower include a private restaurant; a state-of-the-art oceanfront spa and fitness center with Vichy showers; a multipurpose club room equipped with a stadium-seating theater, virtual golf and a two-seat race simulation; a bar lounge with private wine lockers for each residence as well as big screen TV and monumental fireplace; 24-hour security services as well as an on-site concierge.

Dezer’s global influence

Mr. Dezer is not resting on his laurels and global acclaim. This year, he will be developing the Bentley Residences, also in Sunny Isles. The proposed 749-foot luxury tower will reportedly have 216 units at 18401 Collins Avenue and will be finished by 2026; starting price, $4.2 million.

Based on reports, Bentley Residences will also feature the Dezervator car elevator in the center of the building, with each condo featuring a three- or four-car garage with charging stations for electric vehicles.

Dezer Development’s impressive projects include Residences by Armani/Casa with Related Group. Located in Sunny Isles, it features the architecture of Cesar Pelli and interior designer Giorgio Armani Casa. This tower has 308 units with 56 stores.

Giorgio Armani is the president and CEO of one of the leading fashion and lifestyle design houses. Pelli’s team is known worldwide too for the famous Petronas Towers in Malaysia and the International Financial Center in Hong Kong.

Smart technology systems

Dezer Development has also worked on several Trump residences, alongside Premium Digital Control at Trump International in Sunny Isles. In there, Premium’s expert technicians installed automation solutions featuring wireless audio-video solutions, smart lighting systems, motorized window treatments, and surveillance cameras.

Recently, Dezer Development and Related Group won a zoning variance for a waterfront condo development in Hillsboro Beach. The variance allows the companies to develop a 10-story building that is only 130 feet tall, because zoning limits the building height to three stories and 35 feet in this area.

How Dezer Development started

Dezel Development was founded in 1970 by the innovative real estate visionary Michael Dezer who emigrated to the United States from Tel Aviv, Israel. He started his real estate investments in New York. In 1985, he started buying oceanfront properties in South Florida – Sunny Isles Beach in particular, which used to be just populated by mom-and-pop motels.

As president, Gil the son is also actively engaged in the company and its strategic holdings in Florida, New York and other areas, including Las Vegas. The Porsche Design Tower was a great project for him that still manages to be the talk of the town, even five years after it was completed.

What does he think of the Miami environment? He was quoted as saying to the business news website Axios that Dezer Development “designed these buildings for a 100-year storm.”

Today, Dezer Development owns more than 20 properties and a total of 27 acres of tremendous real estate projects and over a million square feet of real estate promise.
